Leigh A. Sands

Associate Lawyer

Leigh is an associate lawyer at Sweatman Law practicing primarily estate litigation as well as estate planning and real estate. Leigh graduated with an Honours BA from Carleton University in 2009 and obtained her law degrees from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2012.

Alyson Spaling

Associate Lawyer

Alyson is an associate lawyer at Sweatman Law, and is part of the estate litigation team. In 2008, she graduated with an honors Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Guelph and in 2012 she obtained her law degree from Bond University in Australia. Alyson was called to the Ontario Bar in 2013.

Karen Forhan

Associate Lawyer

Karen is an associate lawyer at Sweatman Law Professional Corporation. She started with the firm as an articling student in 2015 and after her Call to the Bar in 2016, she continued on as an associate. Karen’s practice primarily focuses on estate planning and real estate and she also has experience in estates litigation as well.

Parkha Khilji

Associate Lawyer

Parkha is an associate lawyer at Sweatman Law, and is part of the estate litigation team at the firm. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2015.

Elise Harrington

Associate Lawyer

Elise is an associate lawyer at Sweatman Law. Elise was called to the Bar in June 2018 and joined the firm after summering with us while at law school and articling with us for the 2017-2018 term. While working for the firm, Elise has been involved in our practice area of estate litigation, estate planning and estate administration files and has contributed to works on powers of attorney and substitute decision-making.

Dana Djonin

Articling Student

Dana (Grozdana) joined Sweatman Law in June 2018 to complete her articles. She is a graduate of the dual Canadian and American J.D./J.D. program at Windsor Law and the Detroit Mercy Law School and has a Bachelor of Administrative Studies in Finance from York University.

Patti McNamara

Senior Litigation Clerk

Patti is a senior legal assistant at Sweatman Law. After graduating from Sheridan College, Patti started her career working in Hamilton.

Jennifer Heffernan

Law Clerk

Jen is one of our law clerks at Sweatman Law who started at our firm in March of 2017. Jen graduated and received her Law Clerk diploma from Fanshawe College in 2013. Jen assists in several areas within the firm but works primarily in Estate Planning with a focus on Wills and Powers of Attorney.

Lisa Hoadley

Legal Assistant

Lisa is a graduate of Ryerson University where she obtained an Honours B.A. in Office and Administrative Studies, followed by her Legal Assistant Diploma at Success Business College. The majority of her career has been spent working in insurance defence for several Bay Street firms in Toronto.

Erin Lewis

Legal/Administrative Assistant

Erin is one of our legal and administrative assistants and often the main point of contact for the Georgetown office. She attended Carleton University with a major in Law.

Tiffany Carpenter

Administrative Assistant

Tiffany is the Administrative Assistant at Sweatman Law. She is a graduate of Seneca College. Tiffany joined our firm in October 2014 after over 15 years’ experience in marketing and administrative duties. Tiffany is our liaison with all our clients and is involved in many facets of office administration, including preparation of financial accounts, file and client management.

Louise DiCarlo

Receptionist/Administration Support

Louise joined Sweatman Law firm in August 2017 as our Receptionist/Administration Support and first point of contact for calls and visits to the firm’s head office in Oakville. She is an honors graduate and award recipient from the Executive Secretarial Program at Humber College (1982), with continued studies towards a certificate in Personnel Management. She began her career working in Human Resources for a large telecommunications company.
