M. Jasmine Sweatman

M. Jasmine Sweatman is the founder of Sweatman Law, a firm providing legal services in the areas of resolution of disputes involving estates, powers of attorney and wills, guardianship, wills, trusts and incapacity planning, planning for wealth preservation, and for families with special needs and the administration of estates and trusts.

Jasmine is cofounder of the innovative new venture a National POA Registry, a Registry created with the aim of reducing the increasing risk of POA fraud, abuse, and conflicting POAs in establishing a unified database for securing substitute decision making documents across Canada.  Jasmine is the author of two books; Powers of Attorney and Capacity (2nd edition) and Bequest Management for Charities (2nd edition) and co-authored the seminal paper “Incapable and capable rights: The rights of adults in vulnerable circumstances – Sledgehammer v. Swiss Army knife” published in the Estates Trusts & Pension Journal.  Jasmine is a frequent speaker.

Lisa is a graduate of Ryerson University, where she obtained an Honours B.A. in Office and Administrative Studies, followed by her Legal Assistant Diploma at Success Business College. The majority of her career has been spent working in insurance defense for several Bay Street firms in Toronto.

Erin is one of our legal and administrative assistants and often the main point of contact for the Georgetown office. She attended Carleton University with a major in Law.

Karen is an associate lawyer at Sweatman Law Professional Corporation. She started with the firm as an articling student in 2015, and after her Call to the Bar in 2016, she continued as an associate. Karen’s practice primarily focuses on estate planning and real estate, and she also has experience in estate litigation.

Parkha is an associate lawyer at Sweatman Law, and is part of the estate litigation team at the firm. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2015.

Parkha Khilji

Associate Lawyer

Elizabeth is an associate lawyer at Sweatman Law. She is a foreign qualified lawyer who started at the firm as a legal assistant in 2020, while completing her NCA exams. She continued at the firm as an articling student in 2021 while studying for the Ontario bar. She has recently been called to the bar and will be working in our estate planning and real estate practices. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling and baking.
